Calling all antique hunters..authentic late-19th century Victorian cross-corner frame holding an original, highly detailed vintage graphite/charcoal sketch of a hound dog, elegantly matted and hand-signed by artist, L. de Grossi. Perfect Square Size: Measures approximately 17” x 17” total. It is an ideal statement piece or an eye-catching addition to a gallery wall. Rustic Faux-Twig Molding: The main wood border features a beautiful, unique hand-carved design made to mimic natural tree bark/twigs, perfectly accented by an inner gold-gilt liner. The Carvings: One corner is beautifully intact, showing off the stunning, deep carving of the original double-acorn and oak leaf design. Two of the other outer corner leaf overlays have significant chips/broken sections from age, which is very common for frames of this era. Historic Ontario Provenance: The backing tells a fantastic local story. It features a handwritten note identifying it as a purchase from the historic Boyd Estate Sale (the famous lumber-baron family mansion in Bobcaygeon, ON, which had its legendary contents dissolved in a massive public auction). It also retains an address label from its subsequent local collector of Nestleton Station. Condition Details: Structure: The main structural crossed-corner wood frame and the inner gold-painted border are 100% solid, tight, and completely stable.
